There is a short section of level ground between the embankment and the cutting, and this was the site of a long abandoned agricultural crossing. This view looks west across a section of flat ground which crosses the drainage ditch (which is in a pipe under what is effectively a bridge over the ditch). The lineside fences show no sign of the original gates but you can see the original route of the path in the shape of the adjacent land, particularly on the eastern side. In the right upper part of the picture is Nobles Farm. 10.04.2015 12148

Looking south from the top of Three Arch Bridge. This cutting is known for being "damp" and an area of grass on the track indicates where the formation is sometimes difficult. Newly laid track has reached a point just out of sight around the bend in the distance, and when this area receives attention the more modern matting laid under the new formation should eliminate the problem. Where necessary, drains are also improved when new track is laid. 20.05.2018 18450
The northern side of Three Arch Bridge looking up towards the western side. A drain pipe can be seen near the bottom centre of the arch furthest from the camera. This presumably drains a void in the arch, and there is an equivalent pipe in the eastern arch. I have never seen this pipe running, but, further north, at Hill Place Farm Bridge, a similar pipe flows almost constantly. 20.05.2018 18455
Looking north from the disused crossing with a long lens this view catches the Horsted Keynes southbound Advance Starter, the buffers in the yard, and the Inner Home bracket signal. The lens distorts and shortens the distance. To the right is the site of the original halt, constructed before Bluebell trains were allowed into Horsted Keynes. There is now no trace of the structure. 27.08.2007
South of Horsted Keynes a grassed field provided good views and was formerly well used by photographers. Please note that the use of the field has since changed and photography is no longer permitted. In the days when permissive use was allowed, 65 hauls the Victorian coaches south. On the extreme left is the southbound Advance Starter and New Road Bridge. 01.01.2007
New Road Bridge is rather restricted in size. It is better not to enquire why this rather large Fire Engine is included in this picture of the western side of the arch.... Whilst the driver was, err, extracting himself from a difficult position, 75027 was pressed into service and conveyed the crew to a lineside fire. 29.07.2006
Looking from the Ardingly Spur towards the Horsted Keynes Down Yard on 15.08.2009. The track layout was later changed to cater for the carriage storage shed (OP4). In view are (nearest camera) the Horsted Keynes Inner Home signal, and, in the distance, the southbound Advance Starter. This signal was subsequently replaced. 0158 The line then enters Horsted Keynes station, which is covered in a separate gallery.
