River Ouse Flood Relief Works
The project is part of a much bigger scheme called MORPH – Middle Ouse Restoration Of Physical Habitats - on the Ouse and Uck, covering 15 sites, both on the Ouse between Ardingly and Barcombe Mills, and on the Uck, its main tributary. The current work at Sheffield Park is one of the first four projects, and there are possibly two further projects to come in the Sheffield Park area (currently going through the consultation stage). MORPH is a partnership project between the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust (OART), the Environment Agency and Royal Haskoning, an environmental consultancy.
The route of the new meanders can be followed by viewing the orange safety fencing.
Tree planting has also taken place and can be seen on the left of the first picture, behind the metal barriers..
