A number of tall concrete fence posts have been found during improvements, and are now being used to support flower beds in the garden. The company is believed to have made these posts in Devon and sent them all around the network. Barcombe Station. 20.06.2020 20452 Please note that this is private property. A summer house has been installed at the southern end of the platform. The LB&SCR is not thought to have specified summer houses, but an attempt has been made to mimic Southern style. The bridge at the southern end of Barcombe Station has been infilled as it was found to be weak. This was done by building block-work walls faced with brick on either side, and then injecting concrete into the void. Bats were found prior to the works and the grey box inserted into the wall is a (legally required) "bat box". The overflow to drain the void inside the bridge presumably also provides shower facilities for the bats. Like most schemes this did not work as intended as the box is currently occupied by wrens...! 20.06.2020 20456 Please note that this is private property. The northern end of the Station Master's house at Barcombe Station. Note the small, carefully constructed, 1882 brick arch over an original window, and contrast it to the Pantry window, which is a later addition to the building. 20.06.2020 20475 Please note that this is private property.
