13236 and D3023
Initially D3023 was used, although it was subsequently replaced in mid-May 2008 by 13236. This engine has also carried the numbers D3236 and 08168. It was previously based at the Battlefield Line, Shackerstone. Both locomotives have since left the railway and have been replaced by a Class 09 which is owned by members of the Locomotive Department. This engine has a separate gallery. 13236 left the Bluebell Railway on 27 June 2014 and is understood to have reverted to the number 08168.

Prior to the arrival of alternative motive power D3023 was used for spoil trains between Imberhorne Tip and Horsted Keynes. It is seen shunting a spoil train on to the Ardingly spur on 27.10.2006
