Sheffield Park Carriage Shed (Woodpax HLF Project) 2009-2010

The Woodpax site formed the basis for Phase 3 of Operation Undercover, which provided covered accomodation for up to 17 carriages, a new museum building, a new locomotive washout pit, and the repair and reconstruction of the platform buildings and canopy and provision of toilets on platform 2 at Sheffield Park Station. The total project cost was £3.9 million, of which £2.875 million was covered by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Please note that the Sheffield Park Carriage Shed and the Locomotive Washout Pit are strictly out of bounds except to authorised personnel.

Three collections feature the construction of the Sheffield Park Carriage Shed, covering 2012, 2011 and 2009-2010 respectively. Together there are approximately 1260 photos available, arranged in roughly date order, with the most recent at the start of each gallery.

The first part of the job is to fit the zinc around the chimney and in the area below the carriage shed roof. Water drains south from the point where the plank has been positioned. The other side of the plank it drains north towards the River Ouse. 15.12.2010
