Owing to a misunderstanding the Museum underfloor heating has been connected to the new East Grinstead signalling system. When the Kingscote signalman pulls off, the Museum temperature rises by 10 degrees. S&T are looking into this... 15.12.2010 5502

Resurfacing the southern part of Platform 2. The final surface will not be laid until basic work has been completed on the whole length of the platform. There are also some weather constraints for satisfactory application of the final surface. 16.11.2010 5368

The maze of rainwater harvesting pipes exits the carriage shed on the western side of the roller shutter. These pipes will be joined to a long length of pipe that will gently fall towards the base of the water tower, on the western side of the site (see subsequent pictures). 16.11.2010 5301

On the western side of the existing water tower a substantial base has been laid to support a new tank to collect the rainwater. It will then be pumped up the tower to refill the existing tank. Changing angle slightly, the carriage shed roof is on the right. Near to the camera on the right of the picture a pipe from the gutter can be seen entering the shed to feed the rainwater harvesting system (one of many such pipes). Unfortunately the varying levels on the site do not allow water from the Museum roof to be harvested and this is being returned to the nearby River Ouse. 16.11.2010 5331

The larger southern area of the canopy has a temporary cover to protect the timber roof beams, and a new zinc surface (to match the remainer of the canopy) will be laid as soon as the weather allows. The chimney nearest the camera has been rebuilt from the original bricks. 16.11.2010 5321

The second (southern) chimney has now also been finished, but this was not in situ when work began, so it has been constructed from new materials. Beyond it, work on the cover for the roof of the toilet block and plant room continues. 16.11.2010 5322
