Sheffield Park Station building, built to the same design as others on the line, and with the standard LB&SCR 1882 legend above the nearest window. The contractor, Joseph Firbank, would be unlikely to recognise the attractive block paving that now greets the huge number of visitors to what was originally a quiet country station. 08.05.2007
In 2012 work started to refurbish the canopy on Platform 1, and the scaffolding also allowed the Friends of Sheffield Park to gain access to the upper windows to undertake repairs. It can be seen that the scaffolding on the left is now higher, allowing access to the apex of the roof. 20.03.2012 3901
In 2012 work started to refurbish the canopy on Platform 1, and the scaffolding also allowed the Friends of Sheffield Park to gain access to the upper windows to undertake repairs. A drain pipe runs within the column directly to the right of the Sheffield Park sign on the box, and raising the canopy whilst maintaining the function of the drain has proved challenging. 10.03.2012 3799
In 2012 work started to refurbish the canopy on Platform 1, and the scaffolding also allowed the Friends of Sheffield Park to gain access to the upper windows to undertake repairs. This image shows the extent to which it was necessary to raise the canopy at the southern end. The northern end is not much different. 10.03.2012 3828
The engine shed at Sheffield Park, with, in the foreground, the dock at the end of Platform 1. This is most frequently used for the Pullmans, but is also utilized to display locomotives and for footplate visits during special events. 02.06.2007. Sheffield Park Shed and Workshops is featured in a separate collection.
9017 reverses towards the shed past the two shunt signals at the southern end of the platforms. The shunt signal for Platform 1 is mounted on a post that would have been occupied by a southbound Starting signal if the line was open to the south. It is Off to allow the move towards the shed. 02.06.2007
